AMCR Institute of Escondido, Calif., is recruiting individuals with type 2 diabetes to volunteer for a clinical research study to assess the effects of an oral medication that is already approved to treat other conditions to determine if it helps their diabetes.
Dr. Timothy Bailey, MD, the Institute’s director, said, “We are investigating whether a medicine that has been proven effective in other treatments can also help lower blood sugar levels and improve the quality of life for people with type 2 diabetes.”
Volunteers will be asked to make nine office visits within a 12-week study period. Participants must be at least 18 years old and be taking oral medications to treat their type 2 diabetes. Qualified participants will receive all study-related treatment and medication at no cost, and may be compensated for their time and travel.
