The last model was pretty boxy, but for 2011; Infiniti designers used the beautiful lines borrowed from the FX35 and the new M37 vehicles and applied these to the QX56.   Looking head on its evident that the front fenders and hood got a nice sculpted shape.  The Xenon headlights look right at home next to the large chrome grill.  Upgrade to the optional 22-inch rims and you will have one awesome looking SUV.  

Moving to the engine, the new infiniti QX56 sets itself apart from other luxury vehicles.  The 5.6 liter V-8 engine produces a healthy 400 horsepower which is 25% more than the previous generation. Torque comes in at a pavement pounding 413 lb-ft.  And the 7-Speed automatic transmission is the first time it’s ever been in an Infiniti SUV.  Fuel economy is also improved thanks to direct injection and VVEL technology.   Gas mileage checks in at 13 MPG in the City and 20 MPG on the highway.  This may not sound like much but the 8500 lb. SUV is at the top of the Large Luxury SUV category where fuel economy is concerned.  For example the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid which costs over $20k more gets the same fuel economy.

The 2011 Infiniti QX56 can be configured to carry either 7 or 8 passengers.   The 7 person seating arrangement comes with 2 plush captain’s chairs instead of the 2nd row.   There are a couple of Televisions in the rear of the cabin, lots of air vents, a center console in the back, and more.    

But the area where the new QX56 really shines is in the technology department.   The QX56 is more stable than a BMW 5-series while turning thanks to an advanced Hydraulic Motion system.    There are some great safety features also present on the QX56.  The all-wheel drive system benefits from traction control and electronic stability control to reduce the chances of a roll-over.  The head restraints feature anti-whiplash technology.  There are a myriad of airbags both front and side.  There is an intelligent brake assist that can slow the vehicle to prevent a collision and a lane departure system.   Blind-spot alert is also a useful addition.
