Follow on Google News | Inner-city girl receives award and recognition in British Parliament (UK's Legislature)London-born Child prodigy, Anne-Marie Imafidon was invited to the British equivalent of the House of Senate (UK House of Lords) to be honoured for her record-breaking achievements in Mathematics and Computing.
By: EIEprogramme.com Today (30th June 2010), Anne-Marie Imafidon, along with other outstanding students were honoured with a special plaque for being the youngest ever school girl to pass College-level (Advanced level) exams in the twin subjects of Mathematics and computing. This was at the palace of Westiminster in a special reception at the House of Lords. At the age of 13, she received a British scholarship to study Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA. At the tender age of 15, she was admitted to start a degree programme by the University of Oxford. At 17, she started a Masters degree and became the youngest person ever to serve on any Oxford University committee along side professors that are old enough to be her grand-father. Anne-Marie commented “I hope my story serves as an inspiration to any child born in inner-city that nothing is impossible. My father always told us that every child is a genius. I hope to publish my revision/study tips later in the family website of www.imafidon.com” The Imafidons are known world wide for their intellectual abilities, as all five siblings are world record holders in academic achievements including difficult subjects such as mathematics. They all participated in the Excellence in Education programme for inner city students. Leading professors and top scientists regard the youngest imafidon siblings twins, Peter and Paula as the "wonder twins" for their record-setting speed of calculating sums faster than a calculator. Anne-Marie graduated with the British equivalent of Summa cum laude and has received several job offers from leading financial institutions including: Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, J P Morgan etc. She has also been invited to be consultants on education, computing and women mathematics education issues by foreign presidents and other world leaders but she is committed to spending part of her time to help inner city children and charities THE END.
