New energy-saving, eco-friendly Legend tanning bed drawing attention, users at Island Oasis Tans

July 1, 2010 - PRLog -- After working for 30 years as a merchandise manager for a major retail store, Stella Halsted wanted a change of scenery.

"Retail burned me out but I still loved working with people," she said. "I learned that a local indoor tanning salon was up for sale and I looked into the indoor tanning industry. I found that owners were successful, people were positive and everyone was committed to customer service. The fact that the salon was only five minutes from my home helped me make my decision as well."
 
Island Oasis Tans is a family-owned and operated tanning salon in Fairfield, Calif. It opened in 2002 and Halsted purchased the salon in 2007. Halsted employs four professionally trained Smart Tan-certified employees in her salon that features eight tanning beds with three levels of tanning and airbrush spray tanning. Late last year, she decided to offer her customers a new tanning bed featuring first-to-market technology.

Island Oasis Tans now offers the Legend manufactured by ETS Tan, the world's largest manufacturer of indoor tanning beds and tanning equipment. The Legend features canopy, bench, facial and shoulder tanning lamps by Wolff and delivers a deep, long-lasting tan in just 12 minutes. The Legend also features an internal audio system with stereo and mp3 input, a comfort-contour acrylic bench and a high-tech LED digital timer.

Part of a new line of e3 tanning beds featuring the latest in energy-saving science, ergonomic design principles and eco-friendly lamp configurations, the Legend began shipping in February.

"This bed is awesome and that's my view and the resounding comment from my customers," Halsted said. "I think it looks incredible on the outside, with its modernistic shape and moving lights – that really draws my customers' attention. Inside, my customers can't believe the results they experience, which is a fast, deep and all-body tan that looks great and feels great. The Legend is an exceptional bed, especially for a small and older salon. We have small rooms and we couldn't offer beds with bells and whistles before. Now we can.

The only salon in or around Fairfield, Calif., to offer customers sessions inside ETS Tan's new Legend tanning bed, Island Oasis Tans is a member of the Indoor Tanning Association and supports local public schools throughout the year with various fund-raising events.

A flurry of promotions keeps return customers and new customers happy and excited about their next session at Island Oasis Tans. Halsted has a birthday club, offering a free session on someone's birthday, special monthly drawings and holiday promotions. "We also decorate each of our tanning rooms on the holidays," she said. "It's a personal touch that keeps our customers happy."

Halsted recently surveyed 100 of her customers and 99 of the respondents noted that Island Oasis Tans is clean, fun, friendly and worthy or their recommendation.

"The one wrote a note back with the survey, saying, 'Sorry, I never give anything a 100-percent score,'" Halsted laughed.
