June 30, 2010 - PRLog -- For many employers, keeping on top of  ever-changing state and federal employment laws can be a daunting task. The Georgia Chamber of Commerce is now offering a manual to help employers with that challenge.

The Georgia Human Resources Manual is a 422-page book that covers everything from hiring and discipline to discrimination and termination. Written by Seth Ford, employment law attorney at Troutman Sanders LLP, the book has 31 chapters on state and federal employment laws and regulations and how they affect business owners large and small.

Chapters covered in the book include: background checks, wages and hours, performance evaluations, employment in the internet age, discrimination, family and medical leave, employee discipline, workplace investigations, unemployment insurance, worker’s compensation and independent contractors.

The Chamber is also offering a companion book, Model Policies and Forms for Georgia Employers, which contains 408 pages of forms, sample policies and author commentary on the difference between policies that are optional and those that are legally essential. A digital download comes with the purchase, which will allow sample forms and policies to be customized on your desktop and printed.

Each book is available for $150 each or both books may be purchased for $240. Both books come with digital downloads, allowing online searches of all material. A weekly e-newsletter HR Update, which provides the latest on employment law changes and other human resource issues, is also included with the purchase.
