SANTA BARBARA ‘TRAINER TO THE TRAINERS’ HELPS CLIENTS REACH FITNESS GOALS USING TURBOSONIC SOUND WAVE TECHNOLOGY

Doug Holt Shares How Sonic Vibration Technology Delivers Invigorating Workout and Soothes Sore Joints and Muscles in Just 10 Minutes

SANTA BARBARA, CA and HOODRIVER, OR –  As a veteran fitness coach and a former director at the National Board of Fitness Examiners, Doug Holt thought he’d seen everything under the sun when it came to athletic training equipment. That is until six years ago when the Santa Barbara-based workout consultant first heard of “whole body vibration therapy”. Now, after using a futuristic device called the TurboSonic Professional in his popular training studio for the past three months, he’s a budding expert on the subject.

“The theory behind vibration platform training is that because the human body is continually under the pull of gravity it only makes sense that it’s more natural and effective to exercise in a vertical direction,” Holt says as he helps a client step aboard the TurboSonic machine at the Conditioning Specialists fitness facility located at 529 E. Gutierrez Street in Santa Barbara. “It sounds strange to people at first but almost all of my clients, including myself, find that a session on the TurboSonic makes muscles feel rejuvenated and provides relief from joint pain.”

At approximately five feet tall, the gleaming red TurboSonic features a rectangle platform to stand upon, much like a medical scale. The moment Holt flips a switch and the machine hums to life, waves of intense but not unpleasant vibrations run throughout the user’s body. Without the slightest effort, a feeling of the muscles being “worked” envelopes the legs, back, abdomen and arms. Minutes later after stepping off the TurboSonic, Holt says virtually everyone reports feeling refreshed and a sense of renewed vitality.

According to Denise Jiminez, a spokesperson for TurboSonic USA, the U.S wholesale distributor of the device, the machine operates at specific adjustable frequencies to trigger what doctors call a neural reflexive response.

“By producing sonic vibrations that move up and down, a full body muscle-contraction is created which stimulates an increase in blood flow to joints and connective tissues throughout the body,” she comments. “In just 10 minutes, the TurboSonic mimics the amount of movement you would experience in roughly an hour’s worth of exercise and the gravitational pull you would have been subjected to. As with an ordinary workout, bone and muscle mass increases, but with the added benefit that muscle, tendon and joint-related pain is reduced.”

Jiminez points out that the device’s up and down vibrations are key to the TurboSonic’s effectiveness as vertical motion is best suited for improving blood vessel circulation, activating the lymphatic system and helping to eliminate cellulite. Researchers also believe other benefits include encouraging the body to release hormones essential to wellness and tissue repair such as serotonin, human growth hormone (HGH) and testosterone.

Although vibrational exercise is just now garnering wider use in fitness clubs and professional sports organizations, its origins date back to the early days of the Russian space program. Concerned with muscle atrophy and a loss of bone density among Cosmonauts, Soviet scientists experimented with whole body vibration (WBV) technology to combat the effects of days and weeks without gravity. To their surprise and delight they proved that when subjected to periods of vertical sound waves these degenerative conditions could be quickly reversed and damaged bone and muscle tissue repaired.

After decades of research and refinement, TurboSonic USA President James Cole says the TurboSonic therapeutic wellness machine has been dramatically improved upon since earlier systems with a patented technology that produces sonic vertical vibrations from three to 60 times per second and variations of amplitude from zero to 100. He says this enables the TurboSonic to stimulate virtually every part of the body, from cells and blood vessels, to organs and muscles.

Cole adds that his company’s systems are making strong inroads into all aspects of athletics, fitness and physical therapy. As the owner of an Oregon-based, state-of-the-art training facility, which serves as the home of the U.S. and Canadian Olympic ski teams, he says he’s pleased to see the patented TurboSonic Sonic Whole Body Vibration (SWBV) being adopted by major medical, rehabilitation, therapeutic centers, spas and gyms across the country and around the world.

As he continues to incorporate the TurboSonic into more aspects of the fitness regimens he develops for Conditioning Specialists’ clients, Holt says the versatility of vibrational training continues to impress both him and his staff.

“We’ve had excellent results using it for strength training, improving flexibility and range of motion, accelerating recovery from injury and reducing pain and discomfort following a strenuous workout,” he states. “One of our regulars asks to use the TurboSonic when he’s stuffed up because he says it clears his sinuses like nothing else.”
