Cape Cod Green Home Captures Cover
BOSTON, MA – The award-winning Truro residence, a Cape Cod green home designed by architecture firm ZeroEnergy Design and constructed by Silvia & Silvia, has captured the June cover of Builder. The nationwide trade magazine publishes construction related news and content.
The Truro residence’s development and construction is profiled in detail while photography by Eric Roth completes the feature, including the stunning nighttime magazine cover photo of the beach house.
“Having a national publication such as Builder cover our project is flattering. We are simultaneously thrilled to see exceptional energy performance recognized by mainstream media,” said Engineering Principal, Jordan Goldman, of ZeroEnergy Design.
Builder’s profile focuses on the innovative design of the home to accommodate not just the two owners but their large extended family as well. By dividing up the home into two living areas, the extra “sleeping bar” – with additional bedrooms – can be decommissioned when not occupied, saving energy.
Also profiled are the contemporary home’s sleek lines and beautiful west-facing vista of the bay that are complemented by a tight building envelope to offset the increased heat gain from the setting sun. Energy improvements include thick walls with continuous insulation, geothermal heating and cooling, and a solar electric system.
