By: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine The purpose of the Welch Scholars Grant is to provide monetary support to help defer costs during a student’s osteopathic medical education. Recipients are chosen based on outstanding academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, strong commitment toward osteopathic medicine, and financial need. The AOF also awarded second-year medical student Michael Groover $400 from the Russell C. McCaughan, D.O., Education Fund. Established in 1956, The Russell C. McCaughan, DO, Education Fund provides scholarships for osteopathic medical students who are entering their second year of studies. Recipients excel academically during their first year of osteopathic medical education and are devoted to osteopathic philosophy and its principals.
