June 28, 2010 - PRLog -- The recruitment industry has changed a great deal with the advent of the internet. All kinds of firms are searching for employees for the greater extent online, rather than through traditional channels such as classified advertisements and employment agencies. The fact that the internet advertising can reach a large demographic very cheaply makes it the ideal medium for publicising job vacancies, and so it makes a lot of sense that it should become the predominant method for finding employees, but the greatest change in recruitment has arisen since the rise of the social networking giants (Facebook, MySpace, and the rest of the crowd). There came a time when it became apparent that the best way to recruit the right people for a business was not to go through an agency – which might simply send any employee to do the job, in order to earn some money – or to advertise in a magazine – which may not reach the required demographic – but to create a system whereby the right candidates could simply find your job for themselves. For example, it makes a lot of sense to simply make people aware of your business, so that if they genuinely want to work for you they will seek you out. If your reputation is good enough, you are likely to get a lot of enquiries.
The beauty of it is, if you make a good enough reputation for yourself (over a wide enough area of the internet) you genuinely will have people contact you looking for work. This is an amazing way to find staff, since the people who seek out a job are the people who will do it best. This “passive” style of recruitment allows companies to get in touch with the talented, passionate individuals who will carry their business forward in a competitive way – not the individuals who apply for the job simply because it is waved under their nose. A great way to implement this style of recruitment strategy is by targeting social networking sites, because these are a great foundation for a large presence on the net. By setting up social pages and groups that allow people to interact with your company, you are putting yourself in a position to get in touch with the best people for your company.
