New Money Morality Responsible for Horrendous Oil Spill in Gulf

A new book by author Boyé Lafayette De Mente claims that the failure of religions to curb the propensity for human beings—particularly males—to act in ways that are harmful and often fatal to others has resulted in a new morality that is causing even greater harm...a morality that is the direct cause of the horrendous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

De Mente says this new morality is profit-making—a concept and a practice that apparently began with the appearance of agriculture some 9,000 years ago and became paramount following the Industrial Revolution in the mid-1700s.

De Mente says that the foundation for most human behavior today is based on the need and desire to make money—a compulsion that permeates the lives of individuals and every organization.

“This new morality is the most pervasive in organizations where the drive for profits is built into the culture and is depersonalized as far as ordinary employees are concerned,” he adds.
De Mente goes on to say that the answer to this human dilemma is obviously not religions that are more powerful because deity-based religions cannot deal effectively with the realities of human nature.

“The answer can only be found in a human-centered philosophy based on the best attributes that religions have identified but are incapable of enforcing—and ultimately on technology that will make it possible to provide for the needs and fancies of humanity at virtually no cost, thereby reducing or eliminating the imperative to make money,” he writes.

The Origins of Human Violence! – Male Dominance, Ignorance, Religions & Willful Stupidity! includes recommendations for dealing with the sexuality of human beings, for reducing and eliminating conflicts caused by cultural and linguistic differences, and for resolving the problem of population growth.

According to the author, institutions that promote population growth and cultural exclusivity in whatever area are the enemies of mankind and among the greatest contributors to the problems of humanity.
