June 27, 2010 - PRLog -- HomeDVD a division of Rumble House Media Group Inc., is pleased to announce the release our Test Instrument SDK toolset.

The software development kit supports the creation of a Waveform Monitor, a Vector Scope, a Histogram and YUV/RGB Parade functions that can be configured to operate in both SD and HD video environments.

The cost is only $95 for the entire suite of video instrumentation tools.

Large, heavy and power hungry video test instruments are now replaced with light weight multi-function software modules that are feature rich, very portable and easy to use.

Capturing high quality image frames as uncompressed RGB bitmaps requires more than just an educated guess to get that expected great looking output. To know that the whites are white without clipping, the blacks are indeed black without crushing, and that the hues and saturation levels are adjusted to look just wonderful, the use of specific video test equipment is essential.

Software developers building Digital video applications will find these video tools very handy when testing live image feeds or archived image sequences.

Though not directly applicable to digital video applications without image to video conversion somewhere in the workflow, these software tools are a valuable asset in  machine vision and microscopy applications where uncompressed high resolution imaging is mandatory.

HomeDVD has developed a set of imaging tools to monitor, measure and calibrate image file content that meet BT.601 SD and BT.709 HD video standards. There are 5 tools in the SDK suite, all of which can be programmed for different operating conditions. The SDK is very easy to use and to understand.

The kit comes with a detailed Developers guide and the software functions in the form of a DLL. Right now only VB.Net and VB6 is supported.  C# and C++ versions are in development.

We have integrated this toolset into our inhouse HD imaging development which supports our 8mm, Super8 and 16mm film telecine projects. Film transfer to video, particularly to a high definition format has its challenges, but is made a whole lot easier knowing the digitized film frames are the best they can be.
