Steve Schwimmer Reappointed Director of Institute of Management Accountants’ Long Island Chapter

Also Named to Long Island Works Regional Industry Advisory Council.

June 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Steve Schwimmer, Sales and Relationship Management Executive, Renaissance Merchant Services and Chairman, Long Island Better Business Bureau Advisory Board of Directors, has been reappointed as Director of the Long Island chapter of The Institute of Management Accountants.

The Institute of Management Accountants has a network of about 60,000 professionals, which provides a dynamic forum for management accounting and financial professionals to develop and advance their careers through its Certified Management Accountant program, professional research and practice development education, networking, and the advocacy of the highest ethical and professional practices.

Mr. Schwimmer, of Syosset, has been with Renaissance since 2003. In his role with the company, he deals with credit card and debit card service programs and offers insight into the areas of credit card fraud and identity theft issues. In the past, he has worked with some of the largest financial institutions including Bank of America Merchant Services, NaBANCO and First Data Merchant Services.

“I am very grateful to be appointed to another term as Director of this wonderful organization,” said Mr. Schwimmer. “This organization is well-known for strengthening the accounting profession through its quality educational programs and the continuance of its goal of setting the highest ethical and professional standards in the profession.”

Mr. Schwimmer has also been appointed to the Long Island Works Regional Industry Advisory Council (RIAC), which ensures that Long Island has a skilled and dedicated future workforce by aligning economic development, workforce development and education. RIAC starts the connection early for students at the kindergarten level and provides industry-specific support for Career Academy programs. RIAC may develop resources including industry-specific speakers, internships/shadow days, curriculum support, equipment donations, grants and professional development for teachers.

In addition to these two roles, Mr. Schwimmer has been working with many non-profit organizations serving health, family, children, pets and other community-related issues. He is Past Chairman of the Foundation for Sight and Sound, which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals affected by various visual and/or auditory challenges.

Mr. Schwimmer is the Past President of the National Association of Payment Professionals. He is also a Board Member of the New York City Metropolitan Better Business Bureau; and Member of Execuleaders; Long Island Limousine Association; International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators; American Business Associates; the Direct Marketing Association of Long Island; the Long Island Mystics; and the Syosset Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Schwimmer is married to his wife of 45 years, Marilyn. They have three grown sons: Scott, David and Eric.
