June 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Hailsham In Bloom judges visited various gardens and short-listed nominees for the Best Kept Front Garden, Best Wildlife Garden, Best Allotment, Best Business Premises and Best Public House Display two weeks ago, awarding points for garden design, quality of floral displays, biodiversity, cleanliness and community involvement.

Passion and gardening knowledge were apparent with some gardens and business premises demonstrating a good selection of plants and colour combinations, evidence of recycling, and a tidy appearance all round.

Winners and runners-up of each competition have since been decided and will be presented with their prizes at the usual awards evening held in September at the Town Council Offices, details of which will be given to the entrants and members of the public in the near future.

Hailsham In Bloom chairman Cllr Jeff Bentley-Astor, said the judges were highly impressed with this year’s competition entries. He said, “Over the past year residents and local businesses have been creating splashes of colour in their gardens with good displays of flowers and creative landscaping, helping to brighten up the town for residents and visitors alike.”

He added, “Well done to all competition entrants. I applaud their effort and imagination put into creating these excellent displays, and here's to welcoming more participants for the 2011 entry.”
