June 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Vital improvements in our communication, energy, irrigation, and environment since year 2000 to 2010 highlights the first decade of the new millennium in the Philippines! Ang Pilipinas Ngayon showcases these developments in today’s advocacy spots that air during the commercial gaps of ABS-CBN Ch. 2’s Umagang Kay Ganda, Showtime, and TV Patrol as well as on ANC’s Top Story and The World Tonight.

Hosted by Caritas Executive Director Fr. Anton Pascual and Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman, the Ang Pilipinas Ngayon advocacy program seeks to promote and highlight the beauty, opportunities, and developments in the Philippines since we entered the new millennium in the year 2000.

Ang Pilipinas Ngayon or The Philippines Today is brought to us by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Stradcom, Philtranco, Petron, United Coconut Planters Bank, North Luzon Expressway, Development Bank of the Philippines, Landbank, Pacific Pearl Airways Aviation School, Strategic Alliance Holdings, Inc., San Miguel Corporation and produced by the Pangarap ng Pilipino Movement.

The development in the Philippines’ telecommunications infrastructures and facilities have conveniently connected people across regions and eliminated domestic and international distances. This upgrading of communication has not only given Filipinos an easier way to keep personal relationships, especially those with relatives living abroad, it also spurred commerce and industry all over the country.

Programs and reforms were also made to ensure that power and energy sources are available nationwide. The Barangay Electrification Project has brought power and light to even the most remote areas in our more than seven thousand islands.

Additionally, the country’s rehabilitation and completion of irrigation projects in the last ten years proved critical in ensuring our country’s stable agricultural growth, particularly in the current El Nino season in the Philippines where our agricultural yields continue to increase!

Laudable initiatives have also been made to secure a safe and healthy environment for the coming generations.  Ms. Gina Lopez, of the ABS-CBN Foundation and the Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP) speaks about some of the projects made in order to preserve the vital Ilog Pasig.

With the strategic improvements in communication, availability of energy and irrigation, as well as the preservation of our environment in the last decade, the Philippines is poised to become a first world country as we enter the new millennium!
