June 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Alcohol, marijuana, prescription drugs, nicotine, morphine... the list of addictions is endless. Right from drinking it to inhaling it, to even injecting it in their veins, addicts do it all. What gets started off as a 'one time' experiment soon takes on an 'occasional' form and within no time develops into a full blown '24 hour' addiction.

Catching the problem in its early stages means a better chance of treating the addiction. However, this does not imply that an addict has no chance of recovery, if the problem is a long term one. Both traditional and Christian rehab centers offer various programs that are developed keeping the state of the addict in mind. Understanding these programs will help in making the right choice.

The first step in choosing a program is to decide on whether the patient will require an in-house program or not. Most Christian rehab centers will offer an in-house program to begin with. It is much easier to supervise the progress of the addict and also ensure abstinence. The staff is trained in handling the problems and withdrawal symptoms. Moreover, the right spiritual aura can be created with ease in the premises of the rehab. Many a times these in-house addicts continue to work with the program even when they are released by the rehab. Only in very mild cases will an addict be given treatment without living in the rehab initially.

The length of the program will depend largely on the level of addiction and the response of the patient toward the program. Even the most deeply affected addicts can go home totally recovered within a span of four weeks, while someone with a mild addiction may need to stay on for longer. Since belief forms the core of a Christian rehab, the faith that an addict is able to demonstrate will go a long way in speeding the recovery process.

Almost all programs offered by both rehabs begin their procedure with a detox schedule. This is followed up with various other aspects of the recovery like counseling, drug education, exercises, etc. It will help to seek the advice of a trained professional when choosing among the various programs offered by a rehab.

There are times when rehabs offer special programs for teens, women, adults, etc and if you want work within these categories then making a choice here will do well. Certain rehabs also develop programs according to the substance of addiction. So while alcoholics may be put in one program, a prescription drug addict will go into another one.

There are several programs and rehabs that one can choose from when looking to treat addiction. Christian rehab centers do offer a better success rate and this is one of the main reasons as to why many people prefer to work with them in battling their addictions.

Before you make a decision on getting substance abuse treatment, be sure to check out a Christian Rehab Center and ask them questions so you may make an informed decision on which place is right for you. At a Christian Rehab you will not only learn about the disease of addiction and alcoholism and how to overcome addiction, you will also learn about God and the loving relationship He desires to have with you.
