June 23, 2010 - PRLog -- ATLANTA, GA – “How to Become a ‘Better’ Angel Investor ” is the topic of this July 15th free luncheon seminar and program that offer insight to attendees on how to invest in and purchase stocks of private companies.  Gifford, Hillegass & Ingwersen, L.L.P, Launch Funding Network, and the Network of Business Angels and Investors are co-sponsors of this program and have an interest in bringing a better understanding of private investment to those who would like to invest in emerging growth companies.

Angel investing is considered one of the most risky, but the most potentially lucrative types of asset investment classes.  Legendary wealth is created from successful entrepreneurial endeavors and for those investors fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to invest in a stock before it goes public or is sold at a multiple of the original investment.  Unfortunately, there are not many options for wealthy investors to learn about the process of angel investing or how to improve their odds of making a successful investment in a private company.

The free seminar luncheon will be followed by an afternoon meeting of the Network of Business Angels & Investors to view live company presentations made by early stage companies seeking investors to support their company’s growth.  It will be an ideal opportunity for seminar attendees to actually participate in the process that experienced angel investors go through when evaluating early stage private investment opportunities.

Karen Rands, president of Launch Funding Network, describes the event as an invitation to affluent Atlantans to learn how to redirect their investments to support the growth of business and jobs in the local market.  “What we’re looking to do is to get Atlanta at the forefront of cities emerging from the recession that we’ve been experiencing for the past two years.  To do that, we need job creation.  Experience tells us this comes from the growth of new and small businesses.”

The July 15th seminar is open to the public and information can be obtained on the Launch Funding Network website (http://launchfn.com/investorworkshop.html).   Seating is limited so investors and high net-worth individuals wishing to attend should RSVP and reserve their seat as soon as possible.

Those most likely to benefit from attending are:   men and women with an annual income over $300,000, real estate and other assets valued at over $1.5 Million, who consider themselves sophisticated in making investments in the stock market or real estate and want to learn about creating wealth through alternative investments such as angel investing as a diversification strategy of their portfolio.

Speakers include top Atlanta industry experts in Alternative Investments and Angel Investments:   David Campanella & Dexter Caffey of The Caffey Investment Group, Allen Johnson as an experienced private investor, Mac Smith of GH&I, and Michael Horton as a private investor and legal counsel of Horton, LLP.

According to Mac Smith of Gifford, Hillegass & Ingwersen, “Many people aren’t familiar with the opportunities that are available in the small & emerging business community.  This seminar will be a way for them to start learning about what opportunities are out there and how they might be able to take advantage of them.”

Topics to be covered in the seminar include:  Learning Due Diligence, Tips to Reduce Risk in Angel Investing, Making Alternative Investments Part of Your Asset Allocation to Maximize Wealth Creation, Managing the Risk of Private Equity Investing, Minimizing the Tax Impact of Large ROI on Angel Investments, Tax programs to Encourage Private Investment, Understanding Term Sheets, Private Placement Memorandums, and the Risks and Rewards of Investing in Different Corporate Structures.

Ms. Rands added that there are many people who may be interested in private investment, but just don’t know how to get started.  “This seminar will teach people how to get involved, how to evaluate opportunities and how to mitigate risks.  The fact is this is a great time to be considering investment in private companies as a pre-curser to the stock market rebounding and because of the new tax incentives offered by the state of Georgia….there is a lot of potential for money to be made in the private equity market, perhaps more than the volatile stock market right now.”
