In the wake of the devastation caused by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, Central 214 at Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar Dallas http://www.central214.com/ today announces a new “We Cook While They Clean” fundraiser supporting relief efforts for the fishing community.

Beginning Wednesday, June 23, Central 214 will donate $1 from every purchase of Executive Chef Blythe Beck’s popular Chicken Fried Kobe Steak dish on the lunch and dinner menu to the Gulf Relief Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to providing relief to the fishing community of the Gulf Coast and their families.

The “We Cook While They Clean” fundraiser, for which Central 214 is joining forces with two other Kimpton restaurants, will continue “until fishermen are back in their boats,” explains Beck. The featured Central 214 Chicken Fried Kobe Steak, the chef’s signature rich, modern approach to a traditional southern favorite, is served with tender slow braised mustard greens, butter whipped potatoes and bacon-red eye gravy.

“Being located in a Gulf Coast state, the oil spill and resulting tragedy is always top of mind for our team and our community. We are proud to help do our part in supporting the hardworking fishermen whom we rely on everyday in our restaurants,” says Beck.

Central 214 is part of San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, a collection of 50 boutique hotels and 54 chef-driven restaurants in 22 major metropolitan cities. Kimpton broke the mold on cookie-cutter lodging in 1981 when founder Bill Kimpton pioneered the idea of hospitality with personality.

Kimpton restaurants in the southeast region of the United States also participating: Area 31 (16th Floor of EPIC Hotel at 270 Biscayne Blvd. Way, Miami, Florida 33131) and Pacci Ristorante (866 West Peachtree Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30308). Acclaimed chefs John Critchley (Area 31) and Keira Moritz (Pacci Ristorante) will be donating $1 from their respective signature menu items to Gulf Relief. Items on each of the menus will be designated with the Gulf Relief Foundation emblem.
