Mamma Mia, Meatball Thowdown pits an author, chef and Italian Instructor in Gravy Wars

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun. 23, 2010 - Everything you ever wanted to learn know about how to make a meatball along with some simmering discussion about Italian cooking is brought to the table during the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Lovelades Meatball Throwdown taking place from 1 – 3pm on August 10 in their main gallery; where Lorraine Ranalli, the self-proclaimed Cook Next Door and Saucy Chef,and Philadelphia radio personality will be facing off with Chef Jim Maugeri of Antionetta’s Restaruant in Cedar Run and LBIF’s Italian instructor and culinary faculty member Rita Kostopolous.


This one time event will feature their unique interpretations and tips as well as a chance to speak with Lorraine about her book Gravy Wars | South Philly Foods, Feuds & Attytudes Ranalli’s entertaining narrative/cookbook about the Italian-American culture. The event is $5 or $20 which includes a pre order copy of Gravy Wars which will be picked up at the throwdown. Lorraine Ranalli was a guest judge during the 2009 Chowderfest and part of the team that chose the Critic’s Choice Award Winners; which were the Green House Café for white and Dock Road Crab Shack for red chowder. The 2010 Chowderfest is scheduled for October 3 with tickets available through the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce at 265 West Ninth Street, Ship Bottom.
