By: Samantha Skyring This salt is unique in that it is an inland desert salt and not sea salt, a new and exceptional product, perfect for the worldwide growing organic market and consumer awareness and demand for purer products! Unfortunately we can't call salt organic because it is not produced, however this ancient salt is as organic and pure as one can get. The salt is harvested within the Kalahari Desert in South Africa from a vast area with the closest town 3 hours away. It is an area that has never been inhabited or used for industry and therefore is pollution free. (The Kalahari Desert is a semi-desert in southern Kgalagadi Africa extending 900,000 km² - 21 times the size of Denmark which is 43 094km². This area is surrounded by the Kalahari Basin which covers over 2.5 million km².) As with wine, the climatic conditions and geological position influence the quality and taste of a product, with 300 days of sunshine and up to 40 degrees, KALAHARI Salt is unique. Three fresh water streams converge on an underground strata, millions of years old, containing pure sodium chloride crystals untouched by man. As these streams run through and over the ancient rock formation, the salt is leached and flows into a protected pristine underground brine lake, where it is extracted and thereafter gently dried by the sun. This ancient salt contains vital minerals and trace elements for optimal functioning and health of the body. This Inland Desert Salt is:- - 280 million years old - Sun-dried - 100% pure - Unprocessed, unrefined - No additives, no preservatives Our CSR intiative:- To support the 'Bushmen' people of the Kalahari Desert - For every bag sold we donate 2kr to SASI - The South African San Institute, www.SASI.org.za End
