June 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Although she’s had the honor of performing around the world in almost 16 different countries and representing the US in World Expo (Seville, Spain), popular children’s performer DARIA manages to find time in her schedule to also perform closer to home at the Hunterdon County Libraries.  Appearing at both the Clinton and Flemington Libraries on July 7th and 8th, DARIA (Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou) performs an interactive show where young children get to experience the fun and interactive type of music that is played all around the planet.  Performing on authentic; and often unusual instruments, DARIA shares best-loved songs from around the corner as well as around the world such as La Bamba, Hava Nagilah, The Lion Sleeps Tonight and Day-Oh, all done with an irresistible beat that has made her live show so popular with children and adults alike.

With 5 cd releases to her credit, Daria has earned a variety of parenting, educational and multicultural honors, including one NAPPA award, one Children’s Music Web “Best New Artist” Award and two Parent’s Choice Awards for cd’s plus another 2009 Parent’s Choice Award for her world music for kids website – located at www.dariamusic.com.  The site offers free songs and activities each month plus coloring pages, multicultural crafts, silly songs, songbooks and a special key for parents, teachers, homeschoolers and kids of all abilities.

“I have a dream job” says DARIA.  “I get to travel around the world, share world cultures, celebrate diversity and sing for people who love their children.” The only think Daria would like to add to her “to do” list, is helping to find a way to support some of the communities she visits, many of which deal with crushing economic conditions such as the San Juan de Miraflores barrio in Lima, Peru, inner city schools in Philadelphia and several of the Native American reservations where she actively does culture exchanges. Pictures from many of these projects can be seen under TRAVELS at www.dariamusic.com.

Closer to her home near Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Daria continues to record, perform and work on a world music book for kids and teachers as well as several other creative projects.  For complete information on the Hunterdon County Library shows, please contact the Flemington - HCL Headquarters at 908-788-1434 or the Clinton- North County Branch at  908-730-6135.  For more information on DARIA, check out her website at www.dariamusic.com .
