Chefs reveal their secret healthy recipes

June 22, 2010 - PRLog -- The Healthy Holiday Company, the UK’s market leader in yoga, health and fitness holidays, has revealed the secret to its healthy diet. Recipes created by its private chefs have been published online and are now free to view and download.

Since 2003, the Healthy Holiday Company has been running exclusive retreats at upmarket locations across Europe, the UK and North Africa. Clients are fed a healthy diet and put on a regime of exercise, yoga and fitness.

Food is a key element of the experience, whether on the original in:spa retreats, or with one of its sister companies, fitscape and destination yoga. While the diet excludes meat, wheat, dairy, sugar and salt, it is plentiful, delicious and nutritious.

When clients began to ask the chefs how they could recreate the food at home, selected recipes were published in a private section of the in:spa website. Now a wide selection of recipes has been made public, allowing more people to benefit from a healthy, inspiring detox diet.

The recipes include vegatarian dishes such as a Berber vegetable tagine, a favourite on the company’s trips to Morocco, and coconut corn bread. There are also healthy variations of old favourites such as spring rolls and tomato soup.

A number of salads are featured include a Black Bean Salad with Lime, Chilli and Avocado which can be served with seared tuna or grilled white fish. The Smoked Mackerel and Sweet Potato Salad is particularly good for rejuvenating tired skin.

Anybody who has been on one of the retreats will know that the breakfasts are famous - usually experienced after an early-morning yoga session or run. There is a recipe for muesli, as well as more exotic options such as a Passion Fruit and Mango Buckwheat Pancake and an Asparagus and Sunchoke Tortilla.

There is a selection of soups include sweet potato, gazpacho and Roast Pepper and Tomato Soup with White Beans.

Fish is an important part of the diet, and recipes are provided for Salmon Teriyaki, Indonesian Fish Cakes, quick-and-easy Thai-style Ice Fish and baked grouper with sweet almond.
