June 22, 2010 - PRLog -- New York, New York (June 22, 2010) – Jewelry designer and native New Canaanite, Kristin Pasternak, will hold at a trunk show for her fine jewelry collection at L’Armoire, 102 Park Street, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, June 25 and 26.

Ms. Pasternak began crafting handmade jewelry as a hobby while attending New Canaan High School.  After graduating from the University of Virginia she spent several years working in New York’s fashion industry as an Assistant Buyer for Polo Ralph Lauren and Yves Saint Laurent. Combining her experience within the luxury fashion industry and her passion for jewelry design, Ms. Pasternak launched her first collection for her eponymous line, Kristin Pasternak Fine Jewelry.

The collection includes meticulously hand-crafted designs in eighteen-karat gold, which feature sparkling diamonds and vibrantly hued gemstones. Ms. Pasternak’s designs are created using gold that has been reclaimed and refined, which is an eco-friendly alternative to using mined precious metals.

Drawing inspiration from architectural and decorative arts, jewelry of antiquity and her travels abroad, Ms. Pasternak’s designs are crafted through a combination of ancient goldsmithing methods and modern jewelry techniques. The result is a collection with definite references to the past, but with a distinct modern sensibility.

Ms. Pasternak’s pieces, while referencing the past, are thoroughly contemporary. “My ultimate goal is to create pieces of jewelry that my clients love to wear – that make them feel comfortable and confident.  I hope that these designs will one day be heirloom pieces that women pass down to their daughters and granddaughters.  In that respect, I always strive to make my designs classic yet modern and of the finest quality and craftsmanship.”

Ms. Pasternak was recently selected to debut her collection to the trade as one of ten up-and-coming designers in the JA New York 2010 Summer Show’s highly regarded New Designer Gallery this July. JA New York New Designer Gallery alumni include David Yurman and Alex Sepkus.
