(Cincinnati, OH) – They’re going to be making history this week at Wake Nation Cincinnati … Guinness style!
At Wake Nation Cincinnati, Ohio’s only cable wakeboarding park, a “Dream Team” of wakeboarders will be setting a new world record for most distance traveled on a wakeboard within 24 hours…some 470 miles, like wakeboarding from Cincinnati to Atlanta!
The 24-hour world record attempt begins at noon Friday, June 25, and ends at noon Saturday, June 26, and is officially sanctioned by Guinness World Records™, the ultimate authority on record-breaking achievement.
Several top pro riders in the wakeboarding industry are joining the 10-member Wake Nation Cincinnati team to set the world record, including Tom Fooshee (2008 World Wake Park Champion), Adam Errington (2008 World Wakeboard Association National Champion), and Amber Wing (2009 Australian National Champion).
Filling out the 10-member Dream Team are Tony Finn and Jimmy Redmon (co-founders of Liquid Force), Brian Wheeler (managing editor, Wakeboarding Magazine), Neill Barker (Liquid Force team rider), Mike Olson (official distributor of the Rixen cable system), and Peter Kennedy and Nick Binkley (co-owners of Wake Nation Cincinnati.)
The public is invited to join in the fun all weekend long, and will be able to ride on Wake Nation's 10-acre lake right alongside the record-breaking riders throughout the Guinness World Record™ attempt.
When not on the lake, team riders will be available for photos, autographs, and to provide free tips and coaching all weekend long. There will even be a pro rider exhibition show on Friday June 25 at 5:30 p.m. followed by a leg of the Wake Nation Cincinnati Weekly Grind Series competition at 6:00 p.m.
And, as if setting a wakeboarding world record isn’t enough, a second history-making event is happening at Wake Nation Cincinnati, and it involves…wedding bells! Following the world record attempt, a couple of wakeboarding enthusiasts from Northern Kentucky, Tony Migliorisi and Dori Craig, are getting married. The ceremony will take place on the dock of the park’s 10-acre main lake. The wedding is the first at a U.S. cable wakeboarding park.
Why did the couple choose Wake Nation for their wedding? “We wakeboard here all the time,” says Dori. “It is a picturesque setting. We wanted to get married outside, and Wake Nation has a beautiful lake and great old shade trees surrounding the facility.” And what is the lucky couple planning after the wedding ceremony? “We are going to wakeboard, of course!” says Dori.
Marrying the couple will be Tony Finn, who will be having a busy day. Not only is he part of the 10-member “Dream Team” that will be setting the wakeboarding 24-hour record, he will also be conducting the marriage ceremony! Finn, who became an Ohio ordained minister for the wedding, is founder of Liquid Force, the leader in wakeboard products and apparel.
