Philadelphia-Area HR Expert Kim Huggins Speaks About Generational Communications

June 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Kim Huggins, generational expert and President of K HR Solutions in Harleysville, Pa., recently spoke at a Bucks County Bar Association seminar and the 21st Century Women’s Leadership Program where she addressed communicating across generations.

During the Bar Association event, Huggins discussed how communicating with clients and colleagues is changing rapidly. The options for communication, such as telephone, e-mail, text messaging and “snail mail,” are many and, from a generational standpoint, preferences vary. The seminar, offered by the Women Lawyers Division of the Bar Association, helped audience members increase their knowledge and understanding of the various communication styles and preferences of different generations.

“Today’s workplace is made up of employees from four, very unique generations – each with their own expectations and preferences of their work environment. It is critical to understand the communication preferences of each group and to take them into consideration when conducting business,” said Huggins. “By building awareness and understanding of these preferences, business leaders can learn to be sensitive to generational differences and, ultimately, more effective when communicating with their colleagues and clients.”  

The 21st Century Women’s Leadership Program is a leadership-focused organization targeting mid-to senior-level women managers who desire to become successful results-oriented leaders and leading companies focused on leveraging the expertise and diversity of their women leaders. Huggins participated in the full day “Present Yourself as a Leader” program, hosted at The Union League in Philadelphia, where she identified the four generations in today’s workplace and their communications preferences.
