Mr. Kevin Howard has been awarded Member of the British Empire (MBE) in his role as Chairman of the British-American Business Council Houston for services to British business interests and charitable activities in Houston, USA. The MBE is given for outstanding service to the community that merits public recognition.
King George V founded the Order of the British Empire to fill gaps in the British honours system. In particular, King George V wished to honour the many thousands of people who served in numerous non-combatant capacities during the First World War. Originally, the Order included only one division; however, in 1918, soon after its foundation, it was formally divided into Military and Civil Divisions. Member of the British Empire is one of five levels within the Order.
Trevor Parkes, President of BABC Houston, announced Mr. Howard's honour at BABC's annual Ascot Day at the Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday, 19 June, during a reception honouring the Queen's birthday. Mr. Howard said in his remarks that the honour given him is a direct reflection of the activities of the BABC in Houston.
Mr. Howard is managing director of the Royal Bank of Scotland in Houston TX and a long time member of the BABC. He is also on the board of The Houston Grampian Association and Theater Under the Stars.
