June 21, 2010 - PRLog -- THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF.--EARTHS Magnet School in Newbury Park will host 10 free science experiment stations at the 2nd Annual Tropical Daze Summer Music Festival, July 24 and 25 at the Thousand Oaks Community Park (2525 Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks). Each station will contain a separate experiment designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

EARTHS (Environmental Academy for Research Technology of Earth Sciences) opened its doors last year. It incorporates earth sciences and technology into its curriculum. Student docents, teachers and parents will be at each science station at Tropical Daze to lead the experiments. "Participants will be able to take what they learn and continue the experiments at home," says Jennifer Boone, EARTHS principal.

"Our students love science and we want other kids to love science too," says Boone. Part of EARTHS' approach to learning is to have its students participate in community service. "Tropical Daze is a perfect avenue for students to expose other children to the wonders of science," says Boone.

Admission to Tropical Daze is free. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. The festival features live music, tropical food and activities for children. An authentic luau buffet and live show presented by "Na Hoaloha o Polynesia" will be featured Saturday evening, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. ($21 per person in advance). For more information and online luau ticket purchases, go to www.tropicaldaze.org, info@tropicaldaze.org, 805-499-3412.
