Day by day we find ourselves falling prey to many health disorders, just like machines which work and after sometimes need repair, our body also works and needs care and treatment. But fortunately unlike machines there are certain disorders which we can help overcome ourselves and prevent from taking an imposing position in our life.

Stress and tension arising due to work loads and family tensions and conflicts , when  gets little out of control at times threatens us and takes the shape of panic attacks. These panic attacks can happen to anyone anywhere. A general awareness about its origin and ready help is thus of utmost importance.

It is always not very feasible to have a medical help or doctors at hand because panic attacks can suddenly occur without any prior notice. At such points of time it is essential that we know how to help ourselves and combat with the situation. Some of the simplest methods of self help during panic attacks are discussed.

Avoid shallow breathing
Majority of a group suffering from panic attacks forget to take heed of the fact that they are breathing in a very shallow way. This kind of breathing involves the chest and known as thoracic breathing which deprives the body of proper oxygen supply for the perfect functioning. Thus one should be aware of this and avoid this as much as possible, because this contributes to the nauseated feeling in an individual.
Progressive relaxation of the muscle or (PMR)

This is a special technique of coping with tension and stress. This technique helps the person in distinguishing between moments of muscle tension and relaxation. This distinction is important because in panic attacks stress on muscles become so frequent that the victim is rendered incapable of recollecting how it feels when the muscle is not under any kind of stress.

Program involving self modification
In this kind of program the person in question becomes equipped in handling dysfunctional conduct on his part. Though this is really hard to implement but once if anyone gets started this can be practiced without much of a difficulty.
