Providence, R.I – June 21, 2010 – Tech Collective, Rhode Island’s Industry Association for IT and Bioscience, today announces the recipients of $6,500 in IT scholarships. The scholarships, funded individually by Fibertech Networks, Lighthouse Computer Services, and the Doug Schwinn Scholarship Fund, were awarded to three students demonstrating scholastic and leadership achievements and pursuing careers in the IT fields at a Rhode Island college or university.
2010 Scholarship recipients are:
• Isamar Moralesm – $3,000 Fibertech Networks / Tech Collective Scholarship. Isamar is a Hope High School graduate who will pursue a Computer Engineering major at the University of Rhode Island this fall.
• Kyle Morse – $1,000 Lighthouse Computer Services / Tech Collective Scholarship. Kyle is a Computer Information Systems graduate of Bryant University and an active member of Rhode Island Air National Guard.
• Nicole Higginbotham – $2,500 Doug Schwinn / Tech Collective Scholarship. Nicole is a Computer Information Systems graduate of Bryant University and is an intern at FM Global.
“We are extremely honored to team up with the Tech Collective to support and encourage young women in computer science and technology in the Providence community,” said Curtis Fox, regional sales director for Fibertech. “Our hope is that the scholarship fund will not only help this year’s very deserving recipient, but also assist many other students in the years to come.”
