Professor John Stevens: new Son Powers album “quite strong and blues-steeped.”

Berklee professor and author John Stevens has this to say about the new Son Powers album “Strike You Down”:

June 21, 2010 - PRLog -- "Do The Best You Can" and " If I Could Tell My Future" are very catchy – a quite strong blend of pop and blues.  (NOTE: POWERS ADAMANTLY DISAVOWS ANY ‘POP’ LABEL)  Also, the title track, "Born To Sing The Blues," "Filibuster Blues," and "Send You Back To Satan" are fine blues-steeped numbers.  All the tracks sound great and definitely reflect that Son Powers style.  The "real" drummer really brings the grooves together very well. (NOTE: BLUES LEGEND ROB PIAZZA PLAYED DRUMS)   Great job on this new one!”

John Stevens is Associate Professor of Songwriting, Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA, and the author of “The Songs of John Lennon: the Beatles Years,” available at Amazon.com, Berkleepress.com, and Professor Stevens’ personal website jlsmusic.com.

Son Powers is a reclusive southern blues songwriter and occasional performer.  An alumnus of the Jacksonville, Florida blues/rock power trio Worldwide Hoodoo, Powers’ earlier bands include Crosscut Saw, King Bee, Parker Brothers, and Charles Atkins & The Blues Boys.  The new album “Strike You Down” is available on CDBaby.com, eBay.com, and other music websites.
