June 21, 2010 - PRLog -- The company name is Hare; its logo is a bunny. For Hare Chevrolet (http://www.harechevy.com/) presenting the Noblesville Parks & Recreation Department’s Easter egg hunt for some 15 years goes deeper than a superficial connection. Also, Hare Chevrolet’s 10-year agreement to provide artificial turf for Noblesville High School's football field is one of many ways the dealership gives back to the community

“It’s always been important to give back to the community that’s given so much to us,” said Monica Peck, who co-owns the dealership with her sister, Courtney Cole.
“It’s a two-way street,” Cole said. “If people buy from us, we feel we should support them.”

Both acknowledge that the automotive business was difficult last year. GM had financial problems, workers were laid off and hours were cut.

“If it was a recession [for the economy], it was probably a depression in the car business,” Cole said.

Despite the auto industry’s woes, Hare Chevy (http://www.harechevy.com/) has remained a steady influence in the community where it began 163 years ago. Its contributions have boosted numerous sports programs in Hamilton and the surrounding counties. The Hare Cares program gives $100 to participating groups every time a group member purchases a vehicle.

The dealership also sponsors All Pro Dad chapters at Noblesville schools and contributes to the Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville, footing the bill for the club’s Hare Chevrolet Cafe.

“You can buy things with money or you can give back and allow people to grow with it,” Cole said.

Her company’s biggest contribution could be its internship program for college and high school students. The unpaid opportunities help students gain experience in reputation management and other disciplines.

Jacob Elsts, a 2009 Taylor University graduate with a degree in communications, works on Hare’s website and blog six to eight hours a week. An insurance salesman, he calls the internship “great experience” and hopes it will help him land a job in his field.

“I wish the schools would get more connected with corporations,” Cole said, adding that in some areas, such as consumer credit and personal finance, “I think we could give a better experience than [students get] in classrooms. We see [consumer credit problems] every day.”

Hare Chevrolet (http://www.harechevy.com/) is interested not in only saling cars, but also in helping better the community that surrounds it. Visit Hare Chevy for more information or visit Hare on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/harechevrolet) to keep informed.
