The week of June 21st will be the first annual Handmade Toy Alliance (HTA) Blog week.  Journalists and bloggers from across the country will come together during the third week in June to celebrate hand crafted children’s goods.  Throughout the week, writers will share news about the HTA and their mission to amend the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), while showcasing some of the unique products offered by the diverse and creative members of the Alliance.

“This is an opportunity to not only promote the amazing products our members make and sell, but also a chance to again highlight the need to amend the CPSIA before these businesses are forced to close their doors due to an inability to prove compliance under the law,” stated Jolie Fay (Skipping Hippos, OR).

“We’ve developed some great relationships with well followed bloggers over the last eighteen months, who have worked with us to help save handmade,” Cecilia Leibovitz, HTA President added (Craftsbury Kids, VT).  “The outpouring of support for our cause was shown again by the number of bloggers that wanted to participate in our first blog week.”

Participating blogs include:  www.handmadeinpa.net, www.ohmywordblog.blogspot.com,      www.almostallthetruth.com, www.thinkkookie.blogspot.com/, www.mloudesigns.blogspot.com, www.lorigami.wordpress.com/www.kids-accessories-by-kidcessory-haven.blogspot.com/, www.mommyperks.com, www.alistbaby.net/tag/blog/, www.momtrends.blogspot.com www.coolmompicks.com,  www.peekaboopicks.com, www.appelandfrank.com, www.dailycandy.com (city specific),   www.designmom.com, www.babble.com, www.aromaticplayclay.blogspot.com, www.deedsandpetunia.wordpress.com,  www.realdiaperindustry.org,  www.auntlindasblog.com,  www.chatterkid.com, www.whimsicalwalney.com, www.juniorsociety.com, www.nonchalantmom.blogspot.com/,                                        www. etsy.com/storque/ www.handmadenews.org, www.blog.giddygiddy.com/giddygiddy/, www.sunshinepolkadots.com, www.peapods.com/blog,  www.littleida.com, www.liliputians-nyc.com/blog/

The HTA includes retail stores, toymakers and children's product manufacturers from across the country who want to preserve consumer access to unique handmade toys, clothes and all manner of small batch children's goods in the USA.  Formed in November of 2008 in response to the CPSIA, HTA members are parents, grandparents and consumers who are passionate about their businesses as well as the safety of the children in their lives.  While in support of the spirit of the law, the unintended consequences of the CPSIA have motivated members of the HTA to work to enact change at a federal level.  For more information, visit www.handmadetoyalliance.org.
