What's The Benefit? inc. Produces Its First Broadway Benefit

From “Live Aid” and “Farm Aid” to the recent “Live Earth” and “Hope for Haiti”—everyone has heard about celebrity benefits. But there’s a new benefit organization making a unique impact on the charitable scene.

June 20, 2010 - PRLog -- WHAT’S THE BENEFIT? INC. is premiering the benefit KEEPERS at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre early this fall—but you won’t see any celebrities, at least not performing in the cast.

“We specialize in providing high-profile opportunities for exceptionally talented unknown artists,” says executive director Nicco Franklin. He, along with Paul D. Cloeter and Molly C. Blau, formed the non-profit WHAT’S THE BENEFIT? INC. after recognizing how many talented performers fall through the cracks.

“Unless you’re a big name in this industry, it’s very hard to get work,” says Cloeter, “and we provide the opportunity for artists to make that name for themselves.”

KEEPERS will be raising money for Spence-Chapin Adoption Services (www.spence-chapin.org)—an organization that matches children worldwide with loving parents. They also offer educational classes and advocate for orphans in developing countries.

“What makes us different is our ability to highlight a new charitable cause with each benefit we produce,” says Blau. “We’re so proud to be working with Spence Chapin on our first Broadway benefit.”

KEEPERS will run in three parts.

First, guests will be greeted in the lobby with a dynamic exhibition of fine art before moving into the theatre for the main event:

An original piece of musical theatre inspired the by real-life testimonials of those whose lives have been affected by adoption and performed by some of New York’s most talented unknown singers and actors.

Finally, a celebrity guest will auction paintings created live by on-the-spot artists Vorcan (www.vorcan.com), the proceeds of which will be donated to Spence Chapin.

With it’s premier of KEEPERS, WHAT’S THE BENEFIT? INC. promises to deliver an evening of entertainment, charity and inspiration.
