June 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Ayrshire, Scotland--The third annual charity golf competition organised by Clydesdale Bank’s Ayrshire Financial Solutions Centre and the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle was held at Brunston Castle Golf Course, and for the third year running raised more than £10,000 for charity.

Seventeen teams from across the county entered the Golf Day, raising a total of £10,044 for the Ayrshire Hospice and Help the Hospices, including a donation by Clydesdale Bank.

The team from financial advisors Thomson McCallum were the winners on the day, with QTS Group providing the prize, and last year’s winners ARPL Architects Ltd taking second spot, sponsored by Giles Insurance. Other prizes included four nearest the pins, sponsored by L&M Survey Services and a longest drive sponsored by Sinclair Scott Chartered Accountants.

Following the day’s play Clydesdale Bank also organised a charity auction, with prizes including a four-ball round of golf at either Royal Troon, Prestwick, Turnberry or Western Gailes and hospitality packages from Kilmarnock FC, Clydesdale Bank, Logan Jewellers and West Sound Radio.

Brunston Castle Golf Course general manager Cheryl Steven commented: “Brunston Castle Golf Course was proud to host the Clydesdale Bank and Elite Ayrshire Business Circle Charity Golf Day 2010 to raise funds for the Ayrshire Hospice.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all players and organisers for choosing Brunston Castle Golf Course as their venue for 2010.”

Elite Ayrshire Business Circle executive chairman and Frazer Coogans Solicitors senior partner Norman Geddes said: “All of us in the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle were delighted to join with our friends in the Clydesdale Bank once again to host this third annual Golf Day, which because of its initial success has now become a regular annual event to which we all look forward.

“Thanks to the marvellous support received from our members, their guests and the sponsors we have been able to raise this magnificent sum for the Ayrshire Hospice. This is an outstanding result in the present challenging economic climate, and is a tribute to the generosity of the Ayrshire business community. We look forward to building still further upon this success in future years in order to increase our support for such a worthy cause.

“Since fundraising for the Ayrshire Hospice first started nearly 25 years ago, it has become a cause very dear to the hearts of local people and businesses alike. We are therefore pleased that all funds raised by today’s events will go to benefit a local charity that is worthwhile by anybody’s standards.

“Our members are unanimous in their support for the work that the Ayrshire Hospice does in our community, and we look forward to holding another successful event on their behalf next year.”

Clydesdale Bank Ayrshire Financial Solutions Centre managing partner Willie Mackie said: “Thanks to the generosity of local businesses who took part on the day and those who supplied great prizes for the auction and prize draw, we raised more than £10,000 for the third year running, which is tremendous.

“Now in its third year, the golf tournament is a regular fixture in the Ayrshire business calendar. Over the years we have raised more than £30,000 for such a worthy cause, and we look forward to continuing to support the charity whenever possible.”

Ayrshire Hospice events co-ordinator Anne Drennan commented: “This is the third year that the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle and the Clydesdale Bank have organised their charity Golf Day in aid of the Ayrshire Hospice, and we are delighted to have their continued support and that of their members and customers.

“The Hospice, like many charities, is facing challenging times at the moment, but we are humbled and encouraged by the unstinting support of the Ayrshire community, which allows us to continue to provide specialist care and support for all those patients and their families who need us.”
