Yogurt Twists, located at the corner of U.S. Highway 280 and Cahaba Valley Road (state Highway 119), across from the YMCA, offers a roomy, family-friendly atmosphere with a large screen TV and ample room for birthday parties, team gatherings and other special occasions.
But the big draw is a colorful wall with a whopping eight self-serve machines, doling out a total of 16 flavors at any given time from a total menu brimming over with dozens of flavor possibilities.
“Our goal is to have the best tasting yogurt and the widest selection of toppings, most of all,” says Richard Shealy, owner of Yogurt Twists. “But it was also important to have a great location, close to schools and neighborhoods, with room enough for people to gather without feeling cramped.”
Everything at Yogurt Twists is bigger and better than what you’ll find at other self-serve frozen yogurt shops. Yogurt Twists has a bright, colorful décor, with spacious, comfortable seating for 64. Its menu will include unique flavors, including some familiar brand name tastes not been seen before in the Birmingham area.
Along with traditional choices, Yogurt Twists will tempt the taste buds with additional flavors like York Peppermint Patty, Mounds, Reese’s and a full line of Hershey’s branded flavors. Also on the menu are sorbets.
“Out of all our flavors, one of my favorites is peach mango tart,” says Shealy. “It sort of reminds you of homemade peach ice cream.”
Best of all, the frozen yogurt and fresh toppings are not just delicious – they’re also good for you. According to the National Yogurt Association, yogurt is beneficial to the Immune system. It helps build strong bones and teeth, lowers cholesterol, and is thought to help combat certain types of cancer-causing compounds found in the digestive tract.
Yogurt Twists will include low-fat, non-fat and no-sugar-added choices, as well as frozen yogurt that’s safe for the lactose intolerant.
Yogurt Twists offers an experience that is affordable and individualized for every customer according to their tastes and appetites. Customers simply weigh their purchase and pay by the ounce, allowing them to purchase as little or much as they want.
