Painting A Brighter Picture for Women and Infants in our Community

June 18, 2010 - PRLog -- POTTSTOWN, PA – Genesis Pregnancy Care Center has a mission—to assist women to carry their babies to term by providing them with spiritual, emotional and physical support. They provide confidential services to women including pregnancy tests, options counseling by Client Advisors, community and medical referrals, advice on healthy relationships, maternity clothing, baby clothing, equipment and supplies, and Healthy Start baby formula needs from hospital discharge to the mother's appointment with WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program.

Genesis PCC is a non-profit organization and relies on the support of donors and fund raising efforts to continue their ministry. This year, they are holding their First Annual Art Gallery and Silent Auction on July 17, 2010. The event will be held at Alabaster's Arts and Tea, located at 935 E. High Street in Pottstown, PA, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.  

In March of 2010, planning began for this event when Connie Maurer, Director of Development for Genesis, thought of the idea after speaking with the owner of Alabaster’s regarding her Gallery Shows. Upon sharing her idea with Diane Pomon, the Director of Genesis Pregnancy Care Center, Diane stated, “We have been looking to offer an event over the summer which would be of interest to the public. I think we’ve found it”.

Local artists, including renowned artist Richard Bollinger, will gather together and display their artwork in a gallery setting. When approached with an invitation to include a collection of work, Richard Bollinger said, “It sounds like a really nice event you are planning.  I would love to be included.” He also added, “I am thrilled with your mission and purpose!”

All artists have graciously offered to donate a portion of their sales to Genesis PCC as a way of supporting the ministry. Artist mediums consist of photography, painting, and custom made jewelry. Some artwork on display will also be a part of the Silent Auction, which will feature many great gifts, sporting event tickets, services, themed gift baskets, and more. Gift items have been donated by various local businesses and well know establishments including The Reading Phillies, Sight and Sound Theater, Shady Maple Smorgasbord, and more.

This event will be held rain or shine. So come on out and view some beautiful artwork, bid on some great auction items, enjoy some refreshments and support the women and infants in our community.
