Eli Helman Premieres His Maxmalist Drawings at Diehl Art Gallery

June 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Eli Helman, of Watertown, MA will be exhibiting his original pen and ink drawings at the Diehl Art Gallery as the July featured artist.  Eli's maximalist pen and ink drawings will be on exhibit from July 15th to August 14th.  The opening reception for Eli Helman will be held at the Diehl Art Gallery on Friday, July 16th from 7-10pm.

Eli Helman is a self-taught, outsider artist with a unique style of maximalist pen and ink drawings. Mostly focusing on animals and nature, he weaves a highly detailed and intricate array of whimsical, abstract and surreal shapes and patterns to create a visual feast for the eyes.  Having an emphasis on tightly drawn lines to create an unyielding lack of empty space, his work embodies one of the many definitions of Maximalism -- the goal being to pack in as much visual information as possible while drawing upon many different styles at once.  Using a time consuming process to construct his drawings, he ensures that you will find something new every time you gaze upon them.
