Wutai Mountain International Tourism Culture Festival

June 13, a press conference in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing announced that the first Wutai Mountain International Tourism Culture Festival will be held on June 26, which is the first anniversary of its election for a world heritage.

Wutai Mountain (http://www.chinatouronline.com/china-travel/taiyuan/taiyu...) has the longest and most prestigious history in the four well-known Buddhist Mountains. It is famous for its beautiful landscapes, ancient temples, Buddhist cultural relics and the cool and pleasant summer climate. In 2009, Wutai Mountain became China’s 38th site to join UNESCO's World Heritage List as a cultural landscape.

With a theme of “display the world heritage and bless the Chinese peace”, the first Wutai Mountain International Tourism Culture Festival will last for one month. In order to promote tourist industry in Shanxi Province (http://www.chinatouronline.com/china-travel/shanxi-provin...), this festival will focus on the profound Buddhist culture and mysterious historical sites.

There are seven main sections throughout the festival, including performances, art gallery of Buddhism, world heritage protection seminar, investment attraction, Buddhist activities, special tourist activities and the closing ceremony. At Xiantong Temple and other temporary exhibition centers, tourist who is visiting Wutai Mountain can also enjoy a variety of exhibitions such as “old photos of inscriptions”, “sculptures and paintings”, “Buddhist cultural relics” and “heap Kam art of Sakyamuni”, etc.

At the same time, several routes of different features are available for tourists to approach the splendid treasures of China’s Buddhism.
