Funded by the Welsh Assembly Government Rural Development Plan (RDP) the 30 page leaflet contains a selection of 22 different walking and cycling routes, from the tip of Gower in Rhossili to the Lliw Reservoir in the heart of Mawr, to tempt local residents and visitors to get active in our beautiful countryside.

The trails and routes featured in the leaflet offer a varying degree of difficulty – from a leisurely 1¼ mile walk in Penmaen to a challenging 19 mile circular bike ride between Tircoed and Rhyd-y-Pandy. There are maps and references for each route as well information on staying safe and travelling in and around the area.

The Deputy Lord Mayor of Swansea, Cllr Ioan Richard, who led an enthusiastic group of walkers on the Cwm Clydach walk said  “We are delighted to have secured the funding to deliver this project as part of the RDP’s Business Plan 1.  Walking and cycling are two of the most popular visitor activities in the area and this guide serves as the perfect taster for what Rural Swansea has to offer to visitors and residents alike.”

200,000 copies of the leaflet have been printed and are currently being distributed across Swansea and all over South Wales.  To view or download ‘Walking and Cycling in Rural Swansea’ online go to visitswanseabay.com/walking

The ‘Walking & Cycling in Rural Swansea’ Guide is a project supported by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Assembly Government as part of Swansea Rural Business Plan 1.
