June 17, 2010 - PRLog -- The first step in the project of JADI LINK regarding to build an integrated giant multi-pass fiber-optic network between Middle East, South Asia and the Far East has been taken.  The project, which has been put into practice by the collaboration of Türk Telekom, Saudi Telecom, Jordan Telecom and the Syrian Telecom, turns Turkey into the region's world gateway.

Türk Telekom, Turkey's leading communications and convergence technology company, took a step that will further strengthen Turkey's geographic importance in the telecommunications industry. The "JADI LINK" project, which would interconnect Jeddah, Amman, Damascus and Istanbul (Jeddah-Amman-Damascus-Istanbul), began with a ceremony.

Apart from the attendance of Transport Minister of Turkey, Binali Yıldırım and Mr. Marwan Juma, Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Kingdom of Jordan;  Mr. Saad Al Demyati, Head of Telecom Wholesale of Saudi Telecom, Mr. Nazem Bahsas, General Director of Syrian Telecom, Mrs. Nayla Khawam, Jordan Telecom's General Manager and Dr. Paul Doany, CEO of Türk Telekom attended to the meeting.

Turkey is becoming a communication bridge between Asia and Europe by JADI LINK project which is conducted with the cooperation of four countries: Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. JADI LINK project will allow the mutual usage of the communication infrastructures of these countries over a single line. Thus, an important overland alternative will be presented in addition to the submarine cables crossing through the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. In some sense, this huge line will establish  a Digital Silk Road in the region.

Türk Telekom continues to weave the communication network between the East and West

Türk Telekom, that has recently announced that it has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire 100% of Invitel International, one of the Middle and South-eastern Europe's leading independent data and wholesale capacity service providers, increased its' power in Europe by Invitel International's 27.000 kilometer fibre-optic infrastructure. Thanks to JADI LINK project after the Invitel International agreement,  Türk Telekom has established the communication bridge between Europe and the Middle East.

The fiber-optic line that will pass through Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia respectively will offer an important alternative in providing Internet (IP), data and partially voice communication via Turkey between South Asia and the Middle East with Europe and the United States. "JADI LINK" project will constitute a safe, short and fully terrestrial alternative to the Mediterranean and the Red Sea corridors. This connection will also meet the rapidly increasing demand in the fields of international data and Internet services in the region. Under the agreement signed, Türk Telekom, Saudi Telecom, Syrian Telecom and Jordan Telecom will perform the necessary physical connections on the national main fibre optic backbones within their borders and will make 200 Gbps capacity expansion in their systems in order for the project can be implemented.

The new intercontinental digital silk road

Within the scope of "JADI LINK" project, in order to provide telecommunication services between the Middle East and Europe, a combined, multi-pass connection will be established through terrestrial fibre optic cable by TT, STI, JTG, and STC that will be used in these countries. The terrestrial fibre optic network will provide a safe and strong alternative to the cable systems that are already passing through the area, where the three major fault lines exist in the Mediterranean sea-floor, and therefore often suffer from the earthquakes and tremors.

JADI LINK;

•   Will provide a completely terrestrial, unique and short route as an alternative to the Mediterranean and the Red Sea corridors.
•   Will meet the rapid increase in demand on intercontinental data and Internet services.
•   Will provide additional capacity from Istanbul to Europe and beyond, and from Jeddah to the South Asia and beyond.
•    Will offer quality, more reliable and faster service.
•   Will reduce the disruption risks caused by submarine cable systems.
