PRLog - June 17, 2010 - BERKELEY, Calif. -- Artist Steven H. Silberg creates works that provoke us to re-evaluate not simply how we experience images, but the very terms -- "motion," for instance, or "light" -- by which we understand images to exist.
Silberg "Now Playing - Les Triplettes de Belleville" (detail) 2003
By using pixels (the foundation of all digital images) and temporality (a truly photographic concept) as his medium Silberg explores his own creative process as wells the broader concept of how images in our contemporary culture are made. Throughout his work, he calibrates, with more or less control, a type of 'photographic' exposure time which creates images that coalesce the digital photographic process and the passage of time while also baring the process of image-making itself.
Silberg’s work will be featured from June 16, 2010 until July 15, 2010. After July 15, a condensed portfolio will be available in the artist archive section of pivotartgallery.com.
