Follow on Google News | Gomez Set For First NASCAR Road Course Start at Infineon Raceway This WeekendJonathon Gomez of Twin Falls, Idaho will make his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series start on a road course this weekend at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA.
In preparation for the the event at Infineon Raceway, Gomez went back to school. Road racing school that is and he passed with flying colors. Last month he competed in the Mustang Challenge at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT and turned a lot of heads finishing second in race one of the weekend and then blistered the field to score the victory on day two in race two. "The experience at Miller in the Mustang Challenge cars was awesome," Gomez said. "While the Mustang Challenge car is not similar at all to my West car, I did learn a lot about braking and transition points on the track. I spent a lot of time just learning how to be smooth and I know I can use that experience to help me at Infineon." Gomez also participated in the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School. "Infineon is so different from Miller or Portland," Gomez stated. "The elevation changes and the blind corners are real challenging. I have practiced but now it is time to race and I am looking forward to this weekend."
