Comcast Media Center To Manage VOD Distribution for Slate of Independent Films from Tribeca Film

Comcast Media Center (CMC) has been selected as one of the service providers to help manage and distribute video on demand (VOD) delivery for the new independent film distribution platform of Tribeca Enterprises LLC (Tribeca Film).

June 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Denver, April 20, 2010 – Comcast Media Center (CMC) has been selected as one of the service providers to help manage and distribute video on demand (VOD) delivery for the new independent film distribution platform of Tribeca Enterprises LLC (Tribeca Film). CMC will launch a branded Tribeca Film VOD offering on April 21, in conjunction with the Tribeca Film Festival's opening day, with 12 feature titles that will be delivered via the CMC to participating cable operators, including Comcast Cable. The titles will be available for a minimum of 60 days.

The first set of Tribeca Film titles range from award-winning dramas and revealing documentaries, to uproarious comedies and sports stories; five are acclaimed titles from the festival circuit, and seven will premiere on demand day-and-date with their premiere at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival. Titles include: The Birth of Big Air; Climate of Change; The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle; The Infidel; Metropia; My Last Five Girlfriends; Road, Movie; sex & drugs & rock & roll; The Swimsuit Issue (Allt flyter); TiMER, The Trotksy and The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia.

Launched in 2003, the CMC's national VOD platform currently manages and distributes more than 9,000 VOD assets from more than 276 content sources each month. The VOD platform provides a highly secure content distribution environment for films and other licensed video programming. The CMC also offers rapid-turn capabilities for providing near real-time delivery of television programming that incorporates the profiles for C3 commercial ratings provided by The Nielsen Company. In addition, the CMC also operates a user-directed Express Lane™ VOD service, which can deliver individual VOD assets to selected cable system headends.
