Camp O-AT-KA, rated one of the 10 best boys camps in the U.S., is pleased to announce that openings are still available for the camp’s final two, two-week starter sessions this summer.
During the sessions, campers participate in a full range of unique character-building crafts and activities. In addition to a variety of land and water sports, boys of all experience levels can learn or perfect their skills in everything from archery and riflery to wood working and stained-glass making. The boys can even choose to join competitive inter-camp sports teams. With 28 well-trained educators and a 2-to-1 camper-to-staff ratio, Camp-O-AT-KA provides superb individual attention to each of its campers.
With approximately 100 acres around Lake Sebago, Camp O-AT-KA is uniquely situated to be able to offer all campers the opportunity to enjoy an overnight trip away from the main camp. Boys aged 11 and up may also choose to participate in the camp wilderness program. Because the camp can offer some of these unique programs, boys come from as far away as Russia.
Executive director Ron Hall says, “Why spend summers in Texas or Florida, where it’s so hot you can fry an egg on the sidewalk? Come to Maine, where the weather is perfect for outdoor activities all summer long.”
Because Maine offers a range of summertime activities for all ages, the boys are not the only ones who will benefit from the Camp O-AT-KA experience: Many parents leave their sons in the excellent hand of counselors, while they vacation just a few miles away. From the coast to the mountains, campers’ families can take full advantage of the Pine Tree State’s many outdoor offerings, whether it’s hitting the lakeside golf courses or sampling the region’s world-famous lobster.
While the first of Camp O-AT-KA’s three starter programs is already full, spots are still available for the remaining two sessions this summer, beginning July 11 and July 25.
