Virginia Beach, Virginia – AAPECS Eye Care announced this week it has expanded its indigent eye care program to accommodate more people that cannot afford vision services. The company works with area organizations to provide eye care for those who have no insurance and no way to pay for what they need.
“It’s simple,” said Dr. Ronald Frenkel, founder of AAPECS Eye Care. “We work in a manner similar to area emergency rooms. If a patient needs our help, we help them. If they can afford to pay us, great. If they cannot afford to pay us, we either work out a payment plan that they can afford or we simply provide care for free.”
The Virginia eye consultants specialize in laser vision correction and the treatment of complex eye disease, such as cataracts. The company also works with local organizations such as Lions Club International and a number of free medical clinics to serve people in need of assistance. It has also helped hundreds of walk-in patients seeking eye treatment and cataract surgery in Virginia Beach.
“For many years AAPECS Eye Care has offered patients free care when they cannot afford to pay,” said Frenkel, an ophthalmologist. “With the recent downturn in the economy, we have found more and more people that are not keeping up with their healthcare due to financial reasons. This is our way of giving back to the Hampton Roads community.”
