June 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Ticonderoga, NY - Teens can make their money go farther. All they need is a little know-how.  For four mornings this summer, Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union (TFCU) is providing that know-how through Money & Me. The program will run Monday through Thursday, July 19-22, 8:00 a.m. – noon at North Country Community College's Ticonderoga Campus.  Admission is free and space is limited.  Interested teens (ages 14-18) may register online at www.tfcunow.com/youth, register in person at TFCU's locations in Ticonderoga, Port Henry or Elizabethtown or call 518-585-6725 x2303 to register.

Money & Me is a hands-on experience that teaches teenagers the basics of money and how to make it work for them. The program covers budgeting, credit advantages and pitfalls, savings and checking accounts, how to save for a big purchase and investing for the future.

“In the past year, we have seen how essential it is to ensure that all Americans gain the financial literacy they need to thrive,” said TFCU president Gregory Johnson “By offering Money & Me, we can start by educating the next generation of savers and investors here and now.”

Money & Me is a program of the New York Credit Union Foundation, the charitable arm of the Credit Union Association of New York. The Foundation serves credit unions, schools and community organizations that improve the financial literacy and independence of New Yorkers. For more information, visit www.nycuf.org.

TFCU offers membership to persons who live, work, worship or attend school in, or businesses or legal entities located in Essex County, Washington County or the Towns of Hague, Horicon and Chester.  For information on becoming a member of the TFCU, go to www.tfcunow.com
