The travel company PureTravel, in partnership with Geographical Magazine, proudly announces their first joint writing competition. The grand prize winner will receive a voucher worth 1500 GBP or nearly 3000 US dollars to celebrate on a PureTravel trip. Nine runners-up win a year subscription to Geographical Magazine. All aspiring travel writers need to do is recount their most memorable travel experiences and send it to PureTravel’s website.
The travel competition is free to enter. Each entry needs to be 300 – 500 words long (please, no longer.) Make sure the entry has the author's name, email address and telephone number on it. Send the entry within the body of an email to PureTravel. Writers need to make a note if they wish to remain anonymous or use a pen name. Submissions must be sent to PureTravel by 15 October, 2010.
Winning entries will focus on the moment instead of giving long, detailed backgrounds. What made this travel moment so memorable? Entries can be funny, moving, shocking or even tear-jerking.
One compiled, all entries will go up on PureTravel’s website, where public voting will select the ten finalists. The email addresses and telephone numbers of all entrants will not be published along with their stories. These lucky ten finalists will have their entries judged by three professional travel writers. The grand prize winner will be announced on 24 November, 2010.
