Exhibition of Paintings by Margaret Merry in Huétor Tájar, Granada 19th June - 3rd July

June 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Please come and visit my exhibition of paintings at the Hotel Cortijo de Tájar from this Saturday 19th June. The exhibition will run for two weeks. I will be there at lunchtime this Saturday and Saturday evening but, as it is only 10 minutes from my home near Huétor Tájar, I can personally meet people there by appointment. I have been trying to get away from exclusively painting landscapes as you will see from my studies of Flamenco Dancers and the pastel of the Romeria with its horses. I have also included a portrait of my granddaughters as I am interested in doing some more portraiture, particularly of children.
We are also producing a new range of prints as we have recently replaced our old printer with a new Canon imagePROGRAF which prints up to A2 size using 12 colour ink cartridges. The results are excellent and we are printing on Canson Arches 310gsm watercolour paper. Signed copies of these prints will be for sale from 35-40 euros.
Also available at the exhibition will be signed copies of my three children's books - The Wise Old Boar, The Lonely Digger and The Adventure Of Princess The Pony.
I will also display some of my cat pebbles. Years ago, when I lived in Cornwall, I collected some smooth, round pebbles from a beach and transformed them into painted cats. These proved very popular but could not command much of a price, and the time and effort put in to find and collect the stones hardly made them viable. Nevertheless, I enjoyed painting them as I have always been fond of cats. We have three at the moment. My new home has a river running below the house and I have discovered that along the banks are smooth, rounded pebbles ideal for this hobby and so I began painting them again last winter while waiting for the weather to improve.
