Excellence In Travel is a company with many years of experience in developing, promoting and implementing group cultural travel to Salvador da Bahia Brazil with the purpose of experiencing the African Diaspora. Salvador da Bahia (commonly known as Bahia), a city of 2 million on the northeast coast (in the state of Bahia), is revered by Brazilians as their spiritual center. Having the second largest population of people of African descent Bahia overflows with wonderful food, great music (Brazilian superstars Gilberto Gil, Ivete Sangalo and Caetano Veloso are native sons of the region), and a vibrant arts scene. During the three days of the forum there will be discussions centering around the African Heritage and what it means in Bahia. There will be a group of 10 specialists who will bring their experiences and expertise to share with the forum and its attendees. There will also be discussions led by leaders in the Candomble religion about the relationship between African religion and tourism. Other topics will include Capoeira (a martial art performed as a dance),
Popular Parties(street parties) and the Quilombolas. Quilombolas are the descendents of slaves that escaped from slave plantations that existed in Brazil until abolition in 1888. The most famous Quilombola was Zumbi and the most famous Quilombo was Palmares.
