June 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Mississippi Gulf Coast Cartoonist, Takes On BP & Benefits Wildlife

Rick London, founder of Google and MSN's #1 ranked offbeat cartoon “Londons Times”

says his first happy memories of childhood were traveling with his parents on weekend

vacations to the Mississippi Gulf Coast

“I was three or four”, says London. I learned I was a brave toddler when I ate a dozen

raw oysters at that age and never stopped.”

When the BP Disaster began, I thought surely someone would have the technology to

put an end to it before it caused too much damage. Of course I was wrong, and the

damage continues and will do so, it appears, for a long time to come.”

London lives more inland now (Hot Springs, Ar) but he still has many friends and family

on or near the coast and in New Orleans all the way down the Florida coast.

London says, “I've been through the worst hurricane documented in history...no it was

not Katrina, it was Camille in 1969, and so many others since I cannot count. I've hunkered

down while tornadoes passed.  I've seen the worst of Mother Nature....or so I thought.  I

never knew the destruction that human beings, out of greed, could cause.  This is worse

than any terrorist could inflict upon us.  This will be with us for decades if not centuries to

come.

London has contributed an idea to clean it up; he wants to bring in NASA, but build large

shuttles (they float), vacuum the oil and other junk, and send them to other planets.

He also (with his team member Dave Sullivan) created a cartoon that he has put on

manufactured products titled “I Want My Life Back”. The shop offers the cartoon image on

mugs, aprons, tees etc. at http://www.RickLondonWear.com and click on "Famous &

Infamous People . A percentage of all sales will benefit

various wildlife causes;  something London says “BP seems to have overlooked”.  But of

course as their commercials say 'We'll make this right'. London adds, “What right? To

whom, where? That is a very vague statement, and I do not believe anything

I hear from BP. Sorry.”
