June 11, 2010 - PRLog -- A new book, Good Night, Honey, was published recently by Bette Yates.  The book tells the story of the author’s life with her husband, Bob Yates. The book begins with their first date and tells the story of their marriage, when her husband died in August of 2005, as well as the many years of tears and laughter they shared together. The book ends as Yates shares ways in which she has been able to move forward after her husband’s passing.

Yates says, “A few days after my husband died, I sat down and wrote about our first day and our last day together.  Then this year I filled in the in-between years.  Writing the book somehow brought him closer to me.”

Good Night, Honey is filled with every emotion, as Yates writes about the ups and downs of a sometimes dysfunctional marriage, being a mother, and living her life as a Christian.  Yates explains her background as a child of divorced parents, who shuttled her back and forth between visits.  Her husband, Bob, grew up during the Great Depression on a poor share-cropper’s farm. Both coming from hard childhoods and times, they bonded and lived a tremendously full life together for more than fifty years.

Yates trained to be a writer by taking two correspondence courses, one with Christian Writers School in Wheaton, Illinois; and the other one with Famous Writers School in Westport, Connecticut.  Since her husband’s death she has taken courses at Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, Illinois, majoring in English and Music.  She is currently teaching piano in her home in Illinois. Yates is the founder and author of the website, Daily Christian Journal, where she has written many Christian articles.

In her next book she plans to write more about her children and their children.  She enjoys traveling, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her dog, Patzi.
